A brief background about my directing experience would be in theatre, not professional but at varsity level. I directed quite a number of plays at varsity that were highly and critically acclaimed and very well attended *and I say this with absolutely no bias whatsoever, like anyone would when writing a biography*
One of my fondest memories of my directing experience would be my directing the all-female cast adaptation of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, that starred the now famous stand up comedian Helouis Goraseb in the role of Romeo, and Sepiso Mwange as the virginal Juliet. The play also featured the award winning actress Joalette De Villiers.
So you can rest easy, I was classically trained by the critically acclaimed and award winning playwright, stage director, actress and educator Tanya Terblanche.
*And I swear to you that these people exist, Google them* :)
Blast Off
About "The Days". The story was inspired from my encounter with acclaimed music video director Inna Goroh back in late 2012. Inna, as I call him coz we tight like that, wanted me to write him a short movie that he would film. However, the project fell through but the idea lingered in my mind and later on it started tagging at my very soul.
And this was perfect timing actually coz it came at a time when I was seriously considering making my own short film.
Thus, the idea for "The Days" presented me with the perfect opportunity that I was looking for; a cool high concept for a short movie done in a fresh way that would allow me to pay tribut to my beloved and adoptive city, Windhoek, and that would allow me to challenge the limit of visual effects in the Namibian short film industry whilst telling an epic story with relatable human elements.
I know, right?
And so, "The Days" was born. It would later evolve into a four part 5-8min web series that will form season one - yeah. The actual story of the series revolves around a character named WOMAN as she navigates through post apocalyptic Windhoek and tries to evade the elements and the shadowy forces threatening her very existence.
So thats the story in a nut shell and this officially marks the beginning of production, with pre=preproduction, as I try to navigate this terrain called film and produce a fully finished web series (but most likely short film) before the end of the year!
Won't you come on this journey with me? Or not LOL
